Pfizer Inc. announced the establishment of the Pfizer Breakthrough Growth Initiative, through which Pfizer will invest up to $500 million in biotechnology companies. The funding will help provide access to Pfizer’s scientific expertise to ensure continuity of the biotechnology companies’ most promising clinical development programs.

 

Mohawk Valley Community College is freezing tuition for the 2020-2021 fiscal year.

 

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded the Broome County Industrial Development Agency (IDA) and the City of Ithaca $300,000 of brownfield grants for specific projects in their respective areas.

U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer introduced the Endless Frontier Act, an initiative that supports innovation in technology at places including the Griffiss site in Rome and the Cree facility under construction in Marcy.

 

The Nassau County IDA has given final approval to a package of economic benefits to a project that will keep a Westbury mortgage banking firm in Nassau County and allow it to almost double its payroll while invigorating a building that once served as the headquarters office of the retailer Fortunoff.

 

North Park Energy is planning a 180-megawatt solar project in Massena, Brasher and Norfolk that would provide hundreds of construction jobs and be operational by 2023.

 

The Agency - Broome County IDA announced a new partnership with the National Development Council (NDC), a nationwide community development finance institution (CDFI), to provide assistance to Broome County businesses impacted by COVID-19 through the NY Forward Loan Fund (NYFLF).

 

LEVEL UP has created a partnership with the Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO) to provide a six-part webinar series focused on helping people with convictions thrive in the workforce.

 

Four sustainability-based companies have been selected by Circular City to participate in a pilot program dedicated to reducing waste and greenhouse gas emissions for the remainder of the year.

 

Fabric Wholesale Direct in East Farmingdale will open a second warehouse to fulfill increased orders for cloth used in face masks and medical gowns and vinyl for face shields after the small business sought help from the Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency through a new tax-break program.
