Committees

The following Committees comprise your ILASFAA Leadership:
  • Awards & Recognition
    • Responsible for soliciting nominations, reviewing qualifications, recommending to the Executive Board (when applicable), and selecting award recipients.
  • College Awareness & Preparation
    • The mission of the College Awareness and Preparation (CAP) Committee is to provide the people of Illinois with practical, timely and accurate information on the college process. Its work will focus on improving student, family and community awareness of the wide range of college financial aid opportunities and more generally, the college selection and admission process. The Committee will make service and outreach to nontraditional, under served and under represented populations a particular emphasis of its work. *CAP is a cooperative effort of ILASFAA, IACAC, and ISAC." 
  • Conference Facilities
    • Responsible for securing equipment for interest sessions, planning menus, preparing signs and advertisements, and making other arrangements necessary for the annual conference.
  • Conference Program
    • Responsible for developing the conference program and subsequent securing of presenters, session leaders, moderators, keynote speakers, etc.
  • Corporate Support
    • Responsible for obtaining and coordinating the exhibitors for the annual conference. Responsible for developing and accepting conference registrations, and preparing and distributing conference materials.
  • Diversity & Professional Conduct
    • Responsible for reviewing regulations, policies and practices as they impact low income/disadvantaged student and families, and making subsequent recommendations to the Executive Board.
  • Electronic Communications
    • Responsible for keeping the membership informed of future events, various committee activities, and other issues important to the membership, via the ILASFAA WEB site and the ILASFAA email listing.

  • Governance
    • To advise the President and Executive Board on abiding by the ILASFAA Articles of Incorporation By-Laws, Policies and Procedures Handbook, and to develop long-term recommendations related to ILASFAA's mission, structure, operation, and service to members.
  • ISAC Formula, Operations & Rules
    • Responsible for reviewing and advising ISAC staff of issues pertinent to MAP funding requests, MAP start-up formula, and the subsequent MAP recompute formula.
    • Responsible for reviewing and advising ISAC staff of issues pertinent to the operational, delivery aspects, and rules of all ISAC programs and services.
  • Legislative Issues
    • Responsible for reviewing and studying federal and state legislative and regulatory concerns and determining appropriate action for recommendations to the Executive Board.
  • Member Support & Research
    • Responsible for increasing membership and the database of current members. Responsible for developing and accepting conference registrations, and preparing and distributing conference materials.
  • Nominations & Elections
    • Responsible for soliciting, reviewing, and balloting of candidates for the annual elections held late in the Fall each year.
  • Training & Professional Development
    • Responsible for providing training and professional development activities to the membership.
