Connect: Melbourne, Australia
IAWA coordinated an inaugural Connect in Melbourne, Australia, co-sponsored by Women in Aviation/Aerospace Australia and hosted by QBE at their city office. Jacquelyn Gluck, representing IAWA, and Tamara Bell, representing Women in A/AA, provided videos and scope of association activities, both in Australia (Women in A/AA) and internationally (IAWA). On the heels of the announcement of IAWA’s award of a 2019 scholarship to Melbourne’s Swinburne University of Technology, in consideration of the Jetstar Airways InspireMe program, and with the general theme of “Women of the Future”, guests were treated to remarks and presentations by Jane Ward, Swinburne’s Vice President (Engagement), Captain Allison Rafei, Senior Base Pilot for Jetstar, and Sue O’Rourke, National Manager for Aviation Meteorology at Australia’s Bureau of Meteorology. It was IAWA’s first Connect in Melbourne and the first such event of its kind for many/most of the attendees, but judging from their overall enthusiasm and positive conversation, certainly not the last.Click here to view photos from the event.
